THE MESSIAH IS HOPE

Week of november 29

Have you started your Christmas wish list yet?  Well, I want to talk to you about a word that some people confuse with the word wish… and that’s the word hope.  You may have something you really want, but hope, according to the dictionary, is to cherish a desire with anticipation, trust and expecting with confidence.

Even back in the old Testament God said He would send Jesus to die for our sins, providing a way for forgiveness and for us to become part of God’s family.  Because Jesus came, when we believe in Him and ask Him to forgive our sins, we can become part of God’s family.  That means we can trust and confidently expect that God will be with us now and forever.  One of my favorite verses is Colossians 1:27, “Christ in You, the hope of Glory.”  When we become part of God’s family, we can say with confidence Christ in me, now and forever, the Hope of Glory!

MY HOPE IS IN JESUS!

Prayer

Dear God,
Thank you for fulfilling your promise and sending the Messiah. Thank you for being the Hope of the World. Thank you for giving us hope in you for the forgiveness of our sins and the hope for eternal life.
Amen

HOPE ACTIVITY

At Home
  • Create a countdown for Christmas! It could be a paper chain, sticker chart, a box of chocolates with numbers, whatever comes to mind to help remind you of the coming Hope of our Savior.

Outside of your Home
  • Try to think of a way to share a random act of kindness to give others a sense of hope this week. For example:
  • Pay for the meal, groceries, or gas of the person standing in line behind you.
  • Write post-it notes of encouragement or a Bible verse, pray over the notes, and place in places for people to find.
